Shikhar Dhawan fifty goes in vain LLC 2024: In the fourth match of Legends League Cricket 2024, Dinesh Karthik-led Southern Super Stars started their campaign with a win by defeating Shikhar Dhawan-led Gujarat Greats by 26 runs. Playing first, the Southern Super Stars team scored 144/9 in 20 overs, in response to which the Gujarat Greats team could score only 118/9 after playing the entire over. In this way, Gujarat Greats had to face their first defeat. Southern Super Stars’ Chaturanga de Silva (53 off 28 balls) was adjudged the Player of the Match.
Southern Super Stars did not have a good start
Losing the toss and batting first, Southern Super Stars did not have a good start and the team lost its first wicket in the form of Parthiv Patel on a score of 29 in the fourth over itself. Parthiv scored 4 runs. Martin Guptill played an innings of 22 runs off 27 balls. Kedar Jadhav could score only 1 run but Hamilton Masakadza contributed 20 runs with the help of two fours and a six off 12 balls.
Pawan Negi’s bat also did not work and he was out after scoring 2 runs. Captain Dinesh Karthik played an innings of 18 runs off 19 balls. In the last overs, Chaturanga de Silva’s explosive batting was seen and he scored an unbeaten 53 runs by hitting six fours and two sixes off 28 balls. Shikhar Dhawan did not get support from anyone
Chasing the target, captain Shikhar Dhawan along with Morne van Wyk gave a 63-run start to Gujarat Greats. Van Wyk scored 15 runs off 19 balls and was out in the eighth over. From here, there was a flurry of wickets and one batsman after another got out. Shikhar played an innings of 52 runs with the help of three fours and three sixes in 48 balls. Apart from him, Manan Sharma scored 10 runs. In this way, only three batsmen were able to reach the double digit score. Pawan Negi took the maximum of three wickets from Southern Super Stars.
